After finishing second in the maiden hurdle at Ballarat, Polixenis Boy has been declared a non-runner for running inside the line of a marker peg.
Corey Waller, the steward in charge of Thursday's Ballarat meeting, said there was only two options open to his panel - being declared a non-runner or disqualification.
Waller explained Polixenis Boy was forced inside the line of the marker by another runner near the 600m mark.
"With that scenario there was only two options available to stewards," Waller told Racing Live.
"One, if we felt that was the fault of Polixenis Boy's racing manners, or his rider, he should be disqualified.
"Option B, if it was caused by another horse, or rider, pushing him inside, then the best we could do is declare him a non-starter and have all bets refunded on him and deductions for the remainder.
"We're of the opinion that there was a runner to his outside that left him with insufficient room and has pushed him inside the marker."
Labetenoire was promoted to second place giving Patrick Payne the quinella in the race after Rebel Force scored at his debut run over jumps.
The rider of Quintin, Jody McGarvey was given a seven-day careless riding suspension for forcing Polixenis Boy to the inside of the marker.
The suspension begins at midnight of August 29, McGarvey will be free to resume riding on September 6.
