Feeling right about Cummings-trained mare

Thursday 27 August 2015, 3:06pm

Hugh Bowman will be banking on the class factor when Gooree mare Sultry Feeling resumes at Rosehill on Saturday following a light autumn.

Placed in the Magic Night Stakes as a two-year-old, Sultry Feeling trained on at three when she was competitive in Sydney's Princess series and finished second to the speedy Eloping in Listed company in Melbourne.

Bowman hasn't ridden her since last spring but he is looking forward to getting back aboard the Bart and James-Cummings-trained mare in the TAB Place Multi Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday.

"Sultry Feeling is a horse I've had a bit to do with," Bowman said.

"She's got a bit of class about her. I think she's a black-type filly in a benchmark race.

"I would expect her to improve from the run but I still think she's forward enough to figure."

So do bookmakers who have marked her equal top pick at $5.50 with Hawkes Racing's Mihiri and the Marc Conners-trained Fiftyshadesofgrey.

In a strong Rosehill book, four of Bowman's mounts have come up as early favourites including Japonisme in the Group Two Run To The Rose.
