Sea Moon has been scratched from Cup

The Lloyd Williams-owned Sea Moon is out of the Melbourne Cup with an elevated temperature.

His scratching leaves Tommy Berry without a ride in Tuesday's race but Williams still has a leading contender in Fawkner to be ridden by Nick Hall.

Sea Moon was one of the outsiders in the field with Japanese runner Admire Rakti the steady favourite.

There are no emergencies in the Cup which means the field is reduced to 23.
