Chad Schofield has failed in his appeal to get back early from suspension to ride at Saturday's Caulfield Guineas meeting.

Schofield took his appeal to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal over the month-long ban for improper riding.

The suspension stems from a ride at Mornington on September 17 stands and the jockey will return as scheduled on October 18, Caulfield Cup day.

He misses the ride on Thousand Guineas favourite Go Indy Go on Saturday at Caulfield with Steven Arnold to take the mount.

The young jockey had his appeal against the suspension dismissed by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board 10 days ago, prompting him to take it to VCAT.

Stewards ruled Scofield turned his horse's head in passing the 1100m mark when he was in a three-wide position and made contact with a horse ridden by Michelle Payne and then bumped Payne's mount twice, ending up in the position one off the fence.

Schofield has a poor record in relation to careless riding suspensions over the past two years.

The jockey's lawyer Paul O'Sullivan said Schofield was disappointed with the decision but was looking forward to resuming riding on Caulfield Cup day.
