Solicit returns to work at Flemington

Wednesday 9 July 2014, 5:38pm

Rising four-year-old Solicit has returned to Ellerton Zahra Racing's Flemington base to begin her latest bid for an elusive Group One win.

Solicit finished third in the VRC Oaks last spring before running New Zealand-bred filly Lucia Valentina to a length in the Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill in the autumn.

Solicit went for a break after she failed to beat a runner home in the Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Rosehill in April.

Co-trainer Simon Zahra said Solicit had thrilled him and training partner Mathew Ellerton with her condition when she arrived back at Flemington.

"She spelled up at (owner) David Moodie's farm and she got the royal treatment," Zahra said.

"She was rugged up and spent every night inside and it has paid off because she looks great."

Connections have not decided Solicit's spring campaign but Zahra said he expected the Group Two winner to resume racing in the last week of August or the first week of September.

"With our programming, she will do three or four weeks work then have an easy jump-out before another one a few weeks after that," Zahra said.
