Green Moon to gallop at Flemington

Friday 9 August 2013, 5:46pm

Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon and this year's Cup favourite Puissance De Lune will both take steps towards their spring returns with important hitouts on Saturday.

Green Moon and four of his imported stablemates are set to have exhibition gallops between races at Flemington, while the Darren Weir-trained Puissance De Lune will have a jump-out on the course proper at Ballarat on Saturday morning with Glen Boss aboard.

Along with Green Moon, imports Sea Moon, Seville, Masked Marvel and Thought Worthy are all down to gallop between races at Flemington.

Sea Moon, Masked Marvel and Thought Worthy are yet to race in Australia while Seville hasn't started since his second to Green Moon in the Group One Turnbull Stakes last spring.

Brett Prebble, who won the Melbourne Cup on the Lloyd Williams-owned Green Moon last year, will ride the reigning Cup winner in his gallop.

Puissance De Lune made a big impression last spring and made just one autumn appearance when he stormed home late to dead-heat for first in the Blamey Stakes.

He is favourite at $6.50 in the TAB's Melbourne Cup market ahead of last year's runner-up Fiorente ($10), with Sea Moon at $16 and Green Moon at $21.

Meanwhile, the TAB released its Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup markets on Friday with It's A Dundeel favourite for the Cox Plate at $5 ahead of Super Cool ($6) and Atlantic Jewel ($8).

Fiorente is favourite for the Caulfield Cup at $9 ahead of Jet Away at $11.
