Style heads Allard chances for Randwick

Some things are worth waiting for and trainer Grant Allard is hoping Style is one of them.

An imposing mare, Style has needed time to grown into her frame.

But with three wins from six starts, the four-year-old is beginning to repay Allard's patience and he hopes she will again when she resumes at Randwick on Saturday.

"She's a big, strong filly. She's taken a bit of time to mature," Allard said.

"She's got big plate-feet that we've had to manage but time did the right thing by her.

"I've always thought she would make it to a Saturday grader and hopefully to Listed grade if we're lucky."

Style was going to be tested in stakes company last campaign.

She had strung together successive wins at two Australian Turf Club meetings at Gosford and was earmarked for the Listed Takeover Target Stakes at the same track in January.

"But she had a little issue with her feet, the farrier made a bit of a boo-boo so she went out," Allard said.

"She's come back probably better than ever so in hindsight, it's probably a good thing it happened."

Allard is hoping the track dries out from Thursday's heavy rating for Loaded who will tackle the Royal Randwick Handicap.

He came from worse than midfield to score at Canterbury last start and three of his six wins have been over Saturday's 1600-metre journey.

"I've got a big opinion of this horse. I think there are some nice races for him later on in the spring on good tracks," Allard said.

"But he's here now so we'll make the most of it."

Two-year-old Mr Entertainer will also fly the flag for Allard at Randwick when he lines up in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1200m).
