Mishani Spirit confirms Magic Millions bid

Saturday 8 December 2018, 1:28pm

Toowoomba filly Mishani Spirit assured herself of a Magic Millions 2YO Classic start but not before some drama at the Gold Coast.

Mishani Spirit was having her first run since winning at Toowoomba in October.

She jumped straight to the lead from the outside barrier and easily beat another Magic Millions hopeful in Pocket Pistol.

The win lifted Mishani Spirit's prize money to $53,000 and the safe zone for a start in the Magic Millions on January 12.

There was some drama after the race when Mishani Spirit parted company with jockey Nozi Tomizawa.

Trainer Ben Currie said Mishani Spirit would have her next start in the BJ McLachlan Stakes at Doomben on December 29.

"It is at 1200 metres and I want to give her a go at the distance before the Millions," he said.

"She has had a look at the Gold Coast now and that is a bonus," Currie said.
