Williams moves to two-win premiership lead

Saturday 30 June 2018, 4:55pm

Talented mare Rillito has brought up the 50th city win of the season in Melbourne for Craig Williams to extend the jockey's lead in the premiership.

Rillito was sent out the $2.25 favourite in Saturday's Keno Heads Or Tails Margins Handicap (1200m) at Caulfield and after getting into the clear from the top of the straight the mare quickly put the race away.

The five-year-old scored by two lengths over Chiavari with a long neck to Mamzelle Tess third.

Williams had started Saturday one win ahead of Damian Lane, who was not riding on Saturday, in the Victorian metropolitan jockeys' premiership.

Rillito's victory took him to a two-win lead with a month of the season remaining while apprentice Ethan Brown remains five wins behind Williams in third place after winning aboard Pacodali on Saturday.
