Pat Duff will continue one of Queensland's longest running and most successful associations between a trainer and owner when two-year-old Soaring Heart makes his debut at Doomben.

Soaring Heart, who won a recent Doomben trial, is set to tackle the Two-Year-Old (1050m) and will be ridden by Justin Stanley.

The gelding is owned by a syndicate headed by former District Court Judge Wally Tutt who has had horses with Duff for 40 years.

Duff says he is always keen to get a winner for Tutt who races Soaring Heart with several members of his family.

"If I remember right, Wally first had his horses with Henry Davis when he was at Eagle Farm. But when Henry decided to move interstate Wally sent me a horse called Handsome Prince," Duff recalled.

"Handsome Prince ended up winning 21 races and developed a cult following. He was later the clerk of the course's horse at Eagle Farm for years."

Duff said since then he had regularly trained for Tutt with plenty of success.

"Our best horse was Hard To Catch who got beaten nose in a Stradbroke Hcp and won more than $1 million," Duff said.

Soaring Heart is by multiple Group One winning sire Show A Heart and Duff has had plenty of success with the breed.

"I have had many horses by Show A Heart including Heart of the Citi who also won more than $1 million," Duff recalled.

He said Soaring Heart was probably six to 12 months away from being at his best.

"But the Show A Hearts sometimes show up early and if there is any rain around that won't hurt his chances," Duff said.

He also has Perfect Aim, who is owned by another of his long term clients, the Rochford family, in Saturday's race.

"There wasn't much between them in the trials and I hope both can go well," he said.
