Cellargirl stays on Golden Rose trail

Thursday 31 August 2017, 3:10pm

Trainer Kelly Schweida has decided to stick with his original plan and run Cellargirl in the Three-Year-Old Handicap at Doomben.

Cellargirl is a possible contender for the Group One Golden Rose at Rosehill on September 23 but will have to perform well on Saturday to justify a trip.

Schweida is keen to get her out to longer distances after she won at 1050m first-up three weeks ago.

He accepted with her in the Three-Year-Old and a fillies and mares race, both at 1350m on Saturday.

"In the end we decided to test her against her own age group," Schweida said.

Schweida hopes apprentice Jag Guthman Chester's 3kg claim can help offset barrier nine.
