Pat Carey fined $4000 at RAD Board hearing

Thursday 31 August 2017, 3:02pm

Trainer Pat Carey has been fined $4000 by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board after an altercation with recently disqualified trainer Trent Pennuto.

Carey on Thursday pleaded guilty to striking Pennuto at the Mornington racecourse in May.

Stewards alleged Carey grabbed the front clothing of Pennuto while he was leading a horse, pushing him towards the stalls, before striking him in the face with his right hand.

Pennuto was last week disqualified from training for six months with a further three month suspension when he reapplies for his trainers' licence after he was found guilty of illegally stomach tubing one of his horses before a race at Moe in May.
