Tegan Harrison nears 500 winners

Friday 7 July 2017, 5:03pm

Jockey Tegan Harrison is hoping her run of long-priced winners can continue as she nears a career milestone of 500 victories.

Harrison brought up her 20th metropolitan winner for the season on Biantic at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

Biantic started at $21 and was the ninth double-figure city winner Harrison has had this season.

He was her 495th winner since she started riding seven years ago and she made it 496 aboard Windmill Follies at Ipswich on Friday.

She will partner tough front runner Double Impact in the Brett Whalley and Co Open Hcp (1640m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Double Impact is a $14 chance in early markets after being run into the ground by Sydney galloper Religify at his last start at Doomben two weeks ago.

But his previous form was a third to Payroll in the Listed Spear Chief Stakes and a second to stakes winning mare Maternal in a benchmark race.

"He likes to roll along and he likes the track and distance. A bit of rain wouldn't do any harm," Harrison said.
