Record number of Blue Diamond entries for 2018 edition

Black Caviar's second foal is among the record 1470 nominations received for the 2018 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield.

The colt by Sebring, named Prince Of Caviar, is one of 47 nominations from Hawkes Racing but the Lindsay Park operation of David Hayes, Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig entered 112 youngsters for its bid for back-to-back Blue Diamond wins after scoring in February with Catchy.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have nominated 97 youngsters for the $1.5 million event while Godolphin (89), Snowden Racing (69) and Ciaron Maher (66) have plenty of chances for Blue Diamond success.

Snitzel heads the sires' tally with 83 of his progeny among the entries ahead of I Am Invincible with 78.

All horses nominated for the Blue Diamond Stakes, which will be run on February 24 next year, are also eligible for the Blue Sapphire (1200m) in their spring three-year-old season.
