Amovatio entered for another Winter Final

Monday 3 July 2017, 6:08pm

A former Winter Championship Series Final winner is among the 23 nominations for this year's $150,000 race at Flemington.

The Chris Waller-trained Amovatio won the Winter Final two years ago and Sydney's premier trainer has entered the six-year-old for Saturday's 1600m-race for which he has been given topweight of 60kg.

Lindsay Park co-trainers David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have three runners nominated with Cory Parish booked to ride last-start winner Petrology while Dwayne Dunn has been called on to partner Sovereign Nation and Luke Nolen is booked for Mihany.

Mike Moroney also has multiple entries with Rhythm To Spare, Loyalty Man and Strike Force who won a heat of the series last start at Sale.

The ballot for the race is based on points earned during heats of the series, with a field limit of 16 plus four emergencies.

Amovatio and Kenjorwood (58.5kg) are 15th and 16th respectively in the ballot but have the highest weights.

Saturday's program features the finals of a host of winter series races in Victoria including the $150,000 Listed All Victorian Sprint Series (1200m) which has attracted 17 nominations.

Promising Robert Smerdon-trained sprinter Ability, who is unbeaten in two starts this preparation since being gelded, is among the entries on the limit weight of 54kg, while last-start Listed winner Tashbeeh heads the weights with 60kg.

Apprentice Jordan Childs, who won the Listed Straight Six on Tashbeeh in May, retains the ride while Melbourne jockeys' premiership leader Beau Mertens is booked to partner last year's winner Ruettiger.

The Lindsay Park team has also booked Mertens for Charlevoix in the Banjo Paterson Series Final, Lady Lee in the Rivette Series Final and Highland Beat in the Creswick Series Final.
