Atlantic Jewel gets all clear for return

Wednesday 27 March 2013, 6:03pm

Multiple Group One winner Atlantic Jewel has returned to trainer Mark Kavanagh's Flemington stables after recovering from the tendon injury that kept her off the track last spring.

Kavanagh said a scan of the problem near fore tendon had come up clear and she would be reintroduced to stable life before being turned out at the end of next month.

"She begins work for the spring at the start of June," Kavanagh said.

Atlantic Jewel's spring mission will be the same as was intended last year - the Cox Plate.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock is unbeaten in seven starts, the most recent last autumn's All Aged Stakes at Randwick.

She had only two runs in that preparation having carried all before her the previous spring when she won the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield and the Wakeful Stakes at Flemington after which fitness problems began to surface.
