The state of the Brisbane metropolitan tracks has forced trainer George Osborne to stay at home with flashy mare Miss Vista for a race at Moonee Valley.

Osborne was planning an assault on the Listed Lightning Handicap which was to be run at Eagle Farm on Saturday before the meeting was transferred to Doomben.

He was hoping the distinctive mare who has developed a cult following because of her white markings and blue eyes, could be a lightweight contender in the black-type race.

But he and owner Dick Karreman decided it would be best to stay at home and concentrate on the Cafetto Handicap (1000m) on Saturday.

"I spoke to Dick and he had a fair bit to do with the work they did at Eagle Farm and he didn't like it at all," Osborne said.

"I know they've transferred the meeting to Doomben but it's doing all the work of two tracks and so we've decided to stay at home.

"Probably the best option is to keep trekking up through the grades at this stage and we might have been throwing her in the deep end in Brisbane.

"Moonee Valley hasn't raced for a while so it should be in perfect order and we're happy to keep her home under those circumstances."

While deciding to stay home and miss the opportunity for a tilt at black-type, Osborne hopes the chance will present itself in the spring.

Osborne says if Miss Vista comes through Saturday in good order she may return to Moonee Valley in two weeks time for a benchmark 84 mares race over 1000m before having a break.

"We're keen to get black type for her even if that is in a Listed race in the spring," he said.

Miss Vista holds favouritism for Saturday's race at $3.70 over last start Pakenham winner El Sicario at $4.
