New Sunshine Coast chief executive

Sunday 7 May 2017, 3:18pm

Albury Turf Club chief executive John Miller has beaten a strong field to get the job as boss of the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

Miller, who replaces the retiring Mick Sullivan who was at the helm for 17 years, will start the job slightly earlier than expected.

He had been scheduled to start in August but will be in place on June 19 which means he can work with Sullivan during the lead-up to the club's Caloundra Cup meeting.

Miller has a solid background having worked at the Mooney Valley club in marketing and sponsorship from 1997 to 2002;.

He was marketing manager of Racing NSW Country in 2003 and for the past 13 years has been at Albury near the Victorian border.

"I am looking forward to relocating to the Sunshine Coast and it will be a challenging role," Miller said.

The Sunshine Coast is Queensland's main Sunday racetrack and hosts three Saturday metropolitan meetings a year as well as some Friday nights.
