Flying Jess $60,000 Magic Millions Purchase $1,296,430 in stakes earnings!!!

I had felt for some time that we could be a force on Magic Millions Day with so many nice horses being eligible for races. We finished up with seven horses in six races on the day which was the greatest representation of any syndication company in Australia. These seven horses which cost a mere $435,000 in total have returned $2,860,608 in stakes money already with plenty more to come. Great stuff!!!

As it turned out our horses went really well with Flying Jess producing something special with her win for John Moloney being the best in our history. I’ve often written the biggest obstacle a horse has to overcome is a poor barrier and I’m certain either Lomazzo or Naranja would have won if they had drawn better marbles but this is the same for so many of the runners on the day.

I am certain the form out of the Magic Millions Guineas will stand up with Global Glamour being the highest rated three year old filly in Australia heading into this race and the 3rd and 4th placed horses having big reputations.

Our thanks go to Tye Angland for a superb ride and to John and the staff at Moloney Racing for a job well done. A lot of planning went into getting our seven runners to the Gold Coast on Saturday and I am very fortunate to have trainers that are easy to work in with.

Over the past couple of years I have been approached at least once a month by some of our biggest trainers asking if I would send them a horse to train. In one case a prominent trainer asked if he could spend a couple of hours at the sales with me to see what I look for in a yearling!!!

I couldn’t be happier with our eight trainers or training partnerships and at this stage have no intention of expanding any further.

I purchased five yearlings at the sales with the allocation as follows: Lot 346 Sebring – Queen Hazel $240,000 – Kris Lees Lot 434 Sizzling – Senro Kisaki $120,000 – Patrick Payne Lot 441 All To Hard – She’s A Fox $600,000 – John Thompson Lot 735 I Am Invincible – Country Kate $220,000 – John Moloney Lot 771 Smart Missile – Devoirs $100,000 – Darren Weir

I plan to buy Tony Gollan a yearling from the Inglis Classic Sale and in total a further five yearlings across the board at the upcoming sales series.

I will be lodging the paperwork with RVL for the Sebring, Sizzling, I Am Invincible and Smart Missile fillies tomorrow and should be in a position to forward out information packs on Monday. The All To Hard filly is fully subscribed.

MAGIC MILLIONS

There is no doubt the 10 days of Magic Millions is up there with the very best Racing Carnivals in the world. The atmosphere is electric with Magic Millions owners Gerry Harvey and Katie Paige along with the wonderful staff at Magic Millions doing everything they can to make it a special week.

Australian racing is very lucky to have Gerry Harvey as one of its leaders and his efforts in partnership with his wife Katie Page have elevated this Carnival to a level that few would have thought it could reach.

From my perspective it is tough to buy yearlings but with the large numbers of high quality stock on offer helps those who have done their homework. Personally I doubt if I could have purchased a better bunch of horses.

ON THE TRACK

Since the last Dispatch was sent we have had some very good results on the track with Raido returning to the winning list, Husson’s Kiss breaking her maiden impressively and quite a few other promising efforts. Things are looking strong heading forward.

Today we have Montana Pines at Doomben, Bella Venus in Launceston tonight, Invincible Al at Moonee Valley and Go Arrivederci at Morphettville on Saturday and Tough Vic in Hobart on Sunday.

I am hoping to get to Hobart for Sunday’s Hobart Guineas meeting.

NOT A SINGLE DOUBT FILLY OUT OF SWEET TALKIN WOMAN

Over the years we have had terrific success purchasing horses privately from the paddock with Unchain My Heart, Holding, Too Many Reds, Believe ‘n Achieve and our two nice three year olds Invincible Al and Isthmian being purchased in this manner and offered to our clients.

Recently I had the opportunity to purchase the Not A Single Doubt filly out of Sweet Talkin Woman from one of our clients. She is a nice filly typical of the progeny of Not A Single Doubt out of a well credentialed and performed mare Sweet Talkin Woman. This is her first foal. I am offering her as a 10 share partnership @ $6,900 each. This represents great value. She was reared at Yarraman Park Stud in the Hunter Valley.

If you are interested in receiving a information pack on her please contact me on 0433762700 or send me an email primethoroughbreds@hotmail.com.

The filly goes to Patrick Payne who has done a wonderful job for us with horses such as Husson Eagle, Atalanta Miss, Invincible Al and Hussy’s Glow. Not A Single Doubt is one of Australia’s best sires and currently 5th on the sires list and Sweet Talkin Woman is by More Than Ready 12th on the mares list.

OUR NEW RECRUITS

Here are the photos of our five new girls. They are a very impressive group of yearlings and I am proud to offer such high class horses to you.

Sebring / Queen Hazel filly – Kris Lees $240,000

This filly rated very highly as a type and this is backed up with a terrific pedigree. She is closely related to Criterion and comes from a great two year old family. I love buying out of families where Oaks fillies appear on the page and in this case we have a Canadian Oaks winner and Champion Three Year Old in Canada as the third dam. This is a similar profile to Snippet’s Lass the dam of Snitzel and Hinchinbrook.

Sizzling /Senro Kisaki filly - Patrick Payne $120,000

I really liked what I saw in a number of the progeny of Sizzling at this sale. To me it is a no brainer that he will be a success at stud. He was a terrific racehorse and precocious two year old from the most dominant sire line in Australia for the past 20 years out of a ‘black type’ mare by one of the greatest sprinters of the modern generation in General Nediym.

I must say I had a bit to do with both sides of this pedigree with Sizzling’s sire Snitzel being out of Snippet’s Lass. Both General Nediym and Snippet’s Lass were trained by Bill Mitchell when I was his Racing Manager. As for Senro Kisaki our promising filly and last start winner Husson’s Kiss is out of Senro Kisaki which is also the dam of the highly progressive Hong Kong galloper Victory Marvel, a two time winner in Hong Kong this season. Husson’s Kiss now heads to the 1000 Guineas in Launceston. As a type this filly is faultless and I really like the mating of Sizzling over Senro Kisaki. This filly was bred by Ian Smith who bred the Champion sprinter Silent Witness as well as many other fine gallopers.

I Am Invincible – Country Kate filly – John Moloney $220,000

This is some filly by Australia’s Leading Sire out of a well related Bureaucracy mare. Bureaucracy is the dam sire of Silent Witness. This filly comes from a female line which has thrown up plenty of good two year olds and she has all the attributes to suggest she may well go early. She is a beautiful looking filly with an incredible hind quarter and vetted out without any issues.

I Am Invincible upgrades the mares that go to him like no other sire I can recall and Country Kate has a 100% winner to runner ration with both her foals having won races. The 2nd Dam Wangaratta was quick and placed in the Keith Mackay Handicap and Reisling Slipper Trial. These are very good races. It may seem a silly statement but I feel this filly slipped through the cracks and was very good buying at $220,000

Smart Missile / Devoirs filly – Darren Weir $100,000

If there was one yearling I was always going to purchase at this sale it was this one. I know the family very well and have two fillies closely related to this impressive Smart Missile filly.

The first is Strike For Victory who like this filly is by Smart Missile Australia’s Champion First Season Sire of 2015/16 season. Strike For Victory is probably the fastest two year old I have ever had. She has amazing talent but her attitude has let her down although this is improving.

The second filly I have from the family is Honolulu Lass out of Devoirs dam Velasco. Patrick Payne trains her and has a big opinion of her. She should race in the next six weeks. A Smart Missile colt out of Velasco named Debellatio was an impressive Trial winner at Lark Hill in WA yesterday and looks to have plenty of talent. Devoirs was a good racehorse and Stakes winner. I was offered her first foal Edge Away as a weanling but felt she was too small. She is a Sydney Metropolitan winner. This is a wonderful family full of good fillies at the top of the page.

All To Hard / She’s A Fox filly - John Thompson $600,000 This filly is fully subscribed. She is simply outstanding
