Nominations rejected from country stable

Thursday 15 December 2016, 3:05pm

Racing Victoria stewards have invited Kilmore based trainer Kate Goodrich to their offices to resolve a matter that has led to the nominations of her horses being rejected.

RV chief steward Terry Bailey said members of the Compliance Assurance Team were conducting routine race day inspections, including the stable of Goodrich, before the Kilmore meeting on Monday.

He said the team inspects stables, treatment records and also horses racing on the day but after some resistance from Goodrich were asked to leave and denied access to the property.

Street Stalker was later scratched by Kilmore stewards with Bailey saying the matter was still ongoing.

"There's two issues," he said.

"The potential breaches of the rules on the day in denying stewards access and secondly it's an integrity issue if we allow horses to continue running when stewards don't have access to the property.

"We've given her an invitation to come and see us at a time that is suitable to her to try and resolve the matter going forward."

Bailey said Goodrich had been advised in writing on Tuesday that nominations of her horses would be rejected until the matter is completed.

Goodrich has had a long-standing grievance with the Kilmore Racing Club and RV and said on social media she had offered for police to be present when the CAT inspected her stable.

She said she then offered to take Street Stalker to the track for inspection by race day staff but that was rejected and stewards withdrew him from his scheduled race.
