Small field for Hill Stakes at Randwick

Friday 16 September 2016, 6:24am

Sydney's two leading stables will fight out the Group Two Hill Stakes at Randwick with Victorian horses Signoff and Tavago staying at home.

Premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller has four of the six runners on Saturday while Godolphin trainer John O'Shea saddles up the other two including odds-on favourite Hartnell.

The Darren Weir-trained Signoff, equal second favourite for the Melbourne Cup, has suffered a minor injury and will now run in the Harry White Classic at Caulfield on Saturday week.

Australian Derby winner Tavago, from the stable of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, will be saved for the Group One Underwood Stakes on the same day.
