Williams to appeal careless riding ban

Craig Williams will appeal the careless riding suspension from the Caulfield Cup which threatens his participation in the Cox Plate.

Williams was found guilty of careless riding in the early stages of Saturday's Caulfield Cup aboard Real Love and he will miss the ride on Epsom Handicap winner Hauraki in Saturday's Cox Plate unless he can win his appeal.

As things stand, Williams will miss Wednesday's Geelong Cup meeting, Friday night's Group One Manikato Stakes and Saturday's Cox Plate.
