The Sunshine Coast Cup meeting has been called off after three races when nearly 50mm of rain swamped the track.

The track was rated in the good range but was quickly downgraded when the skies opened over the course before the first race.

Rain continued and the track was again downgraded with three races were run on the heaviest rating.

Stewards inspected the track before the fourth races and ruled it too wet to continue.

Chief stipe James Williamson said hoof divots in the track were filling up with water and visibility was a problem.

"The jockeys offered to race in the seven-horse race four but after two inspections we found it was unsafe," he said.

Racing Queensland will now look at rescheduling the $100,000 Sunshine Cost Cup, which was to be the last feature race of the summer carnival.

Earlier, the Geoff Bruns-trained Legal Assistant ($4.20) continued her great return from a serious injury when she won the Access Insulation Plate.

Legal Assistant was bred by her part-owner Bill Andrews who sent his mare Paralegal to top sire Commands.

"We originally had Legal Assistant with Peter Moody in Melbourne but we brought her back here to Geoff at Deagon," Andrews said.

"She badly injured her pelvis at her first run back here and had six months off. But she has come back well and has now earned a cheque at all six of her starts."

Andrews has high hopes for Paralegal, an O'Reilly mare, who raced in handy company about six years.

"Maybe she can get us a few good ones as a broodmare. One thing Legal Assistant was bred to handle the wet being by Commands out of an O'Reilly mare," he said.

It wasn't all smiles for Andrews as he is a part-owner of Sunshine Coast Cup favourite Feltre who missed a start after the rain arrived.

"Hopefully they will reschedule the race and he will be hard to beat," he said.
