Eagle Farm tracking well after minor issue

Wednesday 20 January 2016, 11:41am

The reopening of Eagle Farm racecourse remains on track after engineers approved repairs to minor subsidence in the straight.

The engineers were called in when a patch of turf near the 150m mark was shown to have a subsidence issue.

The patch was located above the pedestrian tunnel which runs underneath the straight.

Brisbane Race Club tracks and facilities manager Warren Williams said a small component of material used in the construction of the track had not been up to standard and was replaced.

"The engineers were back this week and they are happy with the replacement work," Williams said.

"When you consider the huge amount of track which has been laid it was a minor problem."

Williams said the grass above the motor vehicle tunnel near the 1000m mark would be laid in the near future.

Eagle Farm, Queensland's major racecourse, is scheduled to reopen on May 11 when it will host a midweek meeting.
