Hawkes Racing has added a third race to the possible first-up options for highly regarded colt Rageese.

Originally scheduled to resume in either the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley or a benchmark race at Randwick on Saturday, Rageese is a late nomination for the Wilkes Quality in Sydney.

The three-year-old is among 19 sprinters in the entry list for the Australia Stakes, a Group Two sprint run at weight-for-age at Moonee Valley on Saturday while he has 57kg in a restricted race at Randwick.

His belated Wilkes Quality nomination has made him the 62kg topweight.

"We're just undecided at the moment whether we run him in Sydney or Melbourne," co-trainer Michael Hawkes told Sky Sports Radio.

"Obviously it depends on weather and tracks and everything going forward."

Rageese will be stepping out for the first time since finishing a close fifth to Press Statement in the Caulfield Guineas.

He earned a Guineas start after finishing third to Press Statement in the Stan Fox Stakes.

Rageese had a reputation during the spring for being a difficult horse to ride but Hawkes says the colt seems to have mended his ways.

"He has done everything right. Hopefully this time around he can get his mind on the job and get things done," Hawkes said.

If Rageese resumes in the Wilkes he will clash with stablemate Sooboog, a winner over Happy Galaxy and Redzel in a Rosehill barrier trial on Tuesday.

Hawkes said Sooboog would also return with a fresh outlook on racing.

"He's probably a lot more relaxed this time," he said.

"In previous times and preparations he maybe wanted to run through the bridle just a touch."

After the Australian Turf Club received a mere four entries for the Wilkes at Monday's deadline, a further eight horses have been added following an extension of nominations.

Besides Rageese, promising three-year-old Top Score is also a late entry.

As expected, smart three-year-old Voilier is a late entry for the Carrington Stakes in which he has the 54kg limit.

Voilier is also nominated for a 1200m race but the three-time stakes placegetter is tipped to step up to Listed grade after doing his most productive work late when runner-up over 1100m at Canterbury earlier this month.
