Fahey equals British training record

Richard Fahey has equalled retired trainer Richard Hannon snr's record of 235 winners in a calendar year thanks to a double at Lingfield.

Gabrial The Hero claimed a narrow win before Luis Vaz De Torres secured the important landmark victory.

"It's grand. I can't believe it. It's a huge amount of winners, but I've got a good team behind me," Fahey said.

"It would be great if we could beat the record.

"We'll be trying anyway."

Fahey has three runners at Southwell on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT) as he goes in pursuit of the outright record.
