Lizzie Kelly has become the first woman to ride a Grade One steeplechase winner in Britain, steering Tea For Two to win at Kempton.
Kelly rode the 9-4 chance in the Kauto Star Novice for her stepfather, trainer Nick Williams.
Despite racing keenly in the first part of the race, Tea For Two was able to quicken up when it mattered to win by four lengths.
"It's awesome, I'm absolutely delighted and to do it on this horse is just fantastic," Kelly said.
"He's always been something we were really proud of and today he has shown everyone what he's worth.
"Turning in I had them, which is a great feeling.
"I love the moment, the moment when you've done it. It might only be a small race, but you've done it and today made it even better as it was that horse, a Grade One and a massive day for us.
Kelly's mother and assistant trainer Jane Williams said it was an important win for women riders.
"It's important for girls to make it in racing and we set out to try to prove girls can win Grade Ones," she said.
"We thought this lad had the best chance of doing it at Kempton. The trip was a bit of a concern, but if you don't try, you don't know.
"Neil King has been brilliant for her. She works for him full time so she's gone off and done her own thing, but in the background we try to help."
