Damian Browne free to ride on Millions day

Sunday 27 December 2015, 5:18pm

Damian Browne and Tegan Harrison will both be able to compete in the country's richest race day despite copping suspensions at the Gold Coast.

Browne will start his careless riding ban on Sunday while Harrison begins hers after Wednesday's meeting, ensuring both will be back for the Magic Millions on January 9.

This year the Gold Coast meeting will offer $10 million prize money.

By taking the suspension immediately, Browne will be able to partner Tinto in the $1 million Trophy after steering the mare to an 1800m victory on Saturday, his first ride on the 2014 Queensland Oaks winner.

The Rex Lipp-trained Tinto is now unbeaten in three starts over the Gold Coast 1800 metres and looms as the likely favourite for her Magic Millions race.

Lipp's association with Tinto's family also looks likely to continue after her full brother Felton Road won his first start at Warwick on Saturday.

Both are by Eureka Stud's Red Dazzler out of Truly Brave.

"Felton Road goes OK but it is a bit early to be talking about him along with Tinto," Lipp said.

Browne was also in line for the ride on the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Detective in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic but the colt is now unlikely after he was scratched at the barrier at Randwick on Saturday.

Harrison will come back from her ban in time to ride Most Important who looms as a genuine Magic Millions Guineas chance after racing wide and finishing second in the Vo Rogue Plate.
