Yaboroo in contention for Melb campaign

Wednesday 23 September 2015, 4:30pm

Joe Pride suspects he might have unearthed a Melbourne travelling partner for top sprinter Terravista.

After Yaboroo made a winning return in the Adelaide New @ Coolmore Plate, Pride said he wasn't being ambitious in trying to find a race over the Victorian spring carnival for the lightly raced sprinter.

"I've always had a good opinion of this colt and we'd love to end up down in Melbourne with him," Pride said.

"He's got to make some good, natural improvement over his next couple of starts to justify that but I think he's on the road."

Hugh Bowman took Yaboroo ($5.50) to the front and the three-year-old was never headed in holding on to beat Who Are They ($21).

The win gave Bowman a race-to-race double after Montauk scored an overdue win in the TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap.

Pride scratched Terravista from The Shorts at Randwick last Saturday due to a wet track and the Group One star will have a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Friday before resuming in the Premiere Stakes.

Terravista will then head to Melbourne to chase back-to-back wins in the Darley Classic after a lead-up run in the Manikato Stakes.
