Kasiano Lad snares Randwick return victory

Saturday 19 September 2015, 3:05pm

Kasiano Lad has marked his return to city racing with victory in the TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap at Randwick on Saturday.

The five-year-old came in for strong betting ring support to start a $4.40 favourite and ran true to form, producing a late surge to win by two lengths over Dupe 'Em ($5).

Kasiano Lad spent over a year in the paddock due to injury before returning to action with a win at Wyong a fortnight ago.

Trainer Jason Coyle was rapt to see the horse handle the step up to Saturday city level.

"He's always shown a lot. He's been a nice horse and it's nice to see him go to the Saturday grade and win," Coyle said.

Coyle said his primary concern was ensuring Kasiano Lad recovered well before he considered his next target.

"He's the sort of horse you've got to take care of and make sure he pulls up well," he said.

"Then we'll see what the next step is."
