Melbourne Cup weights to be released

Japanese horse Fame Game is the favourite for the Melbourne Cup ahead of the declaration of weights.

Racing Victoria's chief handicapper Greg Carpenter will announce the the weights on Tuesday, seven weeks out from the $6.2 million race at Flemington.

Last year's winner Protectionist and minor placegetters Red Cadeaux and Who Shot Thebarman are among the entries.

Fame Game is at $8 in early markets ahead of the Willie Mullins-trained Max Dynamite ($13), winner of last month's Group Two Lonsdale Cup at York.

Fame Game and fellow Japanese horse Hokko Brave ($15) will be the first of this year's international visitors to arrive in Melbourne on Saturday.
