Glen Boss has failed in his bid to have a suspension cut to allow him to continue an association with top galloper Kermadec.

Boss, who won this year's Doncaster Mile on Kermadec, was booked to ride the four-year-old in the Group One George Main Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The jockey received a 10-meeting suspension for careless riding after winning on Kinglike in the Danehill Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Boss following an incident near the 150m that saw Boston Light, ridden by Craig Williams, forced to check.

He argued the earlier involvement of Damien Oliver on Ready For Victory had contributed to the interference.

Boss originally was appealing the decision and severity of the ban, before changing his appeal to severity only.

He did not seek a stay of proceedings pending the appeal and can return to riding on September 23.
