Vancouver is the star turn in the San Domenico Stakes but punters are not letting him have it all his own way.

The Golden Slipper winner is the TAB's $2.25 favourite for Saturday's 1100m-Group Three feature at Rosehill which will be his first racetrack appearance since his Group One win in April.

Last-start restricted winners Japonisme and King's Troop have both come in for notice along with Redzel.

The Chris Waller-trained Japonisme has won his past three starts while King's Troop from the Gerald Ryan stable broke his maiden at a Warwick Farm midweek meeting at his second start.

He was beaten by Japonisme on debut at Rosehill and has tightened from $8.50 to $7.50 in what will be his final start of the campaign.

Japonisme's immediate future will be decided by his performance with punters keeping him safe at $5 from $7.

"King's Troop is fit and well but it's hard to get a line on a horse coming out of a maiden," Ryan said.

"He is still pretty knew and this will tell us where he sits among the three-year-olds.

"He could come back in the autumn for a crack at the Lightning Stakes down the straight at Flemington or he could be headed to a benchmark 75 at Canterbury."

Of course Ryan believes the colt is much better than a midweek benchmark race and will be cautious with the three-quarter brother to Snitzel who he trained to win an Oakleigh Plate.

He is also familiar with Redzel who he trained to a win and a Group Three third as a juvenile before the colt was transferred to Peter and Paul Snowden.

"Redzel is a very good colt and may be better than King's Troop now but come the autumn things could be different," he said.

Japonisme is unbeaten since being gelded and Waller also believes he has a topliner in waiting, but the autumn will also be his time.

Gai Waterhouse arrived back from a trip to the United States on Friday and went straight to Tulloch Lodge to inspect the horses including Vancouver.

"Gai had a look at him this afternoon and was very happy with him," stable spokesman Mark Newnham said.

"She just jetted back in from America. She was over there for a week, but she's pretty happy with the way he looked this afternoon."
