Griante's Group One third in the autumn has strengthened trainer David Brideoake's belief an elite win is within reach this spring.
Five-year-old Griante steps out in Saturday's Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield and Brideoake can't fault the sprinter ahead of her return.
Griante's four-run autumn campaign included a Group Three win second-up in the Wenona Girl Quality at Randwick.
She then turned in a game performance for third in the Group One William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley before going down narrowly to Avoid Lightning in soft conditions at Randwick in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes.
"I thought she was outstanding last time in and there's no reason to think she has not come back equally as good," Brideoake said.
"She'll run in one of the Group One sprints."
He said if things go to plan, the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley will probably be the mare's ultimate aim.
"She has continued to strengthen and we consider it is maybe achievable (to win a Group One)," Brideoake said.
"We think she's right up there and if we're dealt the right hand it could happen. She's an exciting horse to have in the stable, especially considering she's a home-bred."
Griante ran third in a Cranbourne barrier trial on Monday in a heat won by Rich Enuff and has been a firmer in betting for the Regal Roller Stakes .
The five-year-old has barrier 12 but Brideoake says Griante has run well from wide gates before.
"We've just got to rely on her being a pretty genuine horse," he said.
The trainer also has Our Harmony in Saturday's Beveridge Williams Plate (1100m) for mares and she has drawn favourably in barrier one.
Our Harmony is likely to get her chance in mares' stakes races this campaign, having won five of her 10 starts during her three-year-old season.
"I've got a feeling she's going to measure up and it's exciting for my stable to have two potential spring contenders," Brideoake said.
