Flying mare Satirical Lass produced one of the fastest 1350m runs at Doomben on Saturday, earning herself an interstate trip in the process.
Starting favourite, Satirical Lass ($2) ran 1min17.75secs for the distance with her 3-1/2 length win in the Qantac Pty Ltd Handicap.
Only stakes-winning gallopers Natural Destiny, Takeover Target, Falvelon and Love Rocks have run faster times over 1350m at Doomben since 2000.
Satirical Lass had run a sizzling 1min8.66secs over 1200m when winning at her previous start and showed it was no fluke.
"She is really flying at the moment and I am having a very good think about taking her south this spring," trainer Tony Gollan said.
"But one thing, I think she is a mare who likes to find the rail and that might be a problem down there."
Meanwhile, Shotover River is in line for a trip to Sydney after making it two wins in a row in the Stanton Mienert Accountants Handicap (2200m).
"There might be a 2400-metre race for him Sydney and we don't have any of those here. We took him to Melbourne two years ago but I don't think he was mature enough," co-trainer Dan Meagher said.
"Since we took the blinkers off him he has been settling much better."
