The jockeys have been taking most of the attention in the run for the Melbourne premiership but the race is still on for training honours.
Last season's winner Darren Weir holds a four-win lead over Peter Moody with two meetings left for the season.
Betting closed on the premiership after Weir opened up a nine-win lead but Moody has pegged back the margin with doubles at Moonee Valley and Flemington and a winner at Bendigo at the past three metropolitan meetings.
Both Moody and Weir will have strong representation at Caulfield on Saturday and Ballarat on Sunday.
Moody saddles up nine runners in six races at Caulfield and a further six runners in six races at Ballarat while Weir has five runners in five races at Caulfield and nine runners in five races at Ballarat.
Debutant Zandarral looks Moody's best chance according to early betting at Caulfield and is the $4.40 favourite in the David Hopwood Handicap.
He also has Angels Beach, the $4.60 second favourite in the Bletchingly Stakes, with Monteux also $4.60 second favourite in the Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap.
Falago appears Weir's best hope and is the $3.70 to win the final race, The Champagne Pommery Masters Handicap.
