Jumps jockey Tom Ryan's hopes of riding King Triton in Sunday's Grand National Steeplechase rest with the outcome of his appeal against a careless riding suspension.
Ryan was found guilty of careless riding in a highweight race on the flat at Pakenham on Tuesday and was suspended for a total of three jumps races which is scheduled to end after Sunday's Grand National meeting at Ballarat.
The jockey has appealed the decision and severity of the ban and has his hearing in front of the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Friday morning.
Ryan is booked for the Pat Hyland-trained King Triton in Sunday's $250,000 Grand National Steeplechase but will have to relinquish that ride if he is unsuccessful in his appeal.
