Uncertainty over Ryan Moore's return

Thursday 23 July 2015, 7:50am

Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup winning jockey Ryan Moore could be out of action for much longer than originally thought.

The three-time British champion suffered a neck injury in a barrier mishap earlier this month.

The Racing Post reported Moore was facing the prospect of writing off the rest of the year.

It said that although X-rays had come back clear, uncertainty continued to surround a potential return date and he could be sidelined until the start of 2016.

Moore won last year's Cox Plate on Adelaide for Coolmore trainer Aidan O'Brien and the Melbourne Cup on the Andreas Wohler-trained Protectionist.

The jockey signed on as the No.1 rider for Coolmore earlier this year with the trainer's jockey son Joseph fighting an ongoing battle with his weight.
