Treve all set to star at St Cloud

Saturday 27 June 2015, 9:14am

Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek is calm ahead of Treve's next Group One assignment in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

The mare was to be retired after her second win in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe but was returned to Head-Maarek to be prepared for a third.

Sunday's race is the next step towards that goal.

"I'm not nervous. I never really get nervous," Head-Maarek said.

"For me it is just another race. Her preparation is just the same as any other horse in the yard.

"She is no different to any other horse in the stable, even if she is not exactly the same!"

Treve made a scintillating comeback in the Group Two Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud a month ago and her trainer said she had improved since that win.

"She's fine, she is in great form and I think she has improved quite a lot since her last race. She has been going very well at home," Head-Maarek said.

"I think this race is the normal progression for her and she looks good physically."

The mile-and-a-half (2400m) contest is no penalty kick for Treve on paper, with Group One winners Dolniya and Flintshire among her opponents.

Dolniya was a brilliant winner of the Dubai Sheema Classic earlier this year while Flintshire won the Hong Kong Vase last December.
