Trainer Chris Waller is poised to reach another milestone with his runners during Brisbane's feature meeting at Doomben.
The champion Sydney trainer has again been a dominant figure at the Brisbane winter carnival, winning seven stakes races so far including the Group One Queensland Oaks and Doomben 10,000.
His 13 Group One wins this season headline his 47 stakes winners and with runners in seven of the nine black-type races at Doomben on Saturday, Waller is poised to reach No.50.
There are four Group One races left for the season - Saturday's Stradbroke Handicap, Queensland Derby and JJ Atkins and the Tattersall's Tiara two weeks later.
As well as his 13 Group One wins which have come with 12 different horses, Waller has 11 Group two wins, 12 Group Three and 11 Listed victories.
The Queensland winter carnival runs until early July with another 19 stakes races to be run.
Waller said it had been a good season but gave much of the credit to his staff and horses.
"I am proud of that statistic. I am lucky to have a good staff and good horses for a lot of good owners," Waller said.
"Basically a good horse can make a trainer or jockey look good."
Waller's Group One runners on Saturday are Boban, Delectation and possibly Flamingo Star in the $2 million Stradbroke Handicap, Sadler's Lake, Quick Strike and Redoubtable Heart in the Queensland Derby and Counterattack, Press Statement and Feast For Eyes in the JJ Atkins Stakes.
