Peter Moody's decision to keep some familiarity about the autumn campaign of Pasadena Girl paid more dividends at Flemington on Saturday.
Moody revealed he was torn between running the two-year-old against her own kind and the VRC Sires' Produce Stakes.
Pasadena Girl's experience over the Flemington straight-six course won out and the filly justified Moody's placement with a neck win over Air Apparent ($5) in the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes.
"I tossed and turned about the Sires' today," Moody said.
"But I ended up with this race as she had shown she's capable up the straight with her debut win."
Pasadena Girl was a despised outider when she won at Flemington last month but she went to the post as a $3.40 favourite to keep an unbeaten record.
Moody said Pasadena Girl raced to a new level in the Breeders.
"She stamped herself with a bit of class today," he said.
"She didn't beat much the other day but she beat some handy ones here."
Jockey Vlad Duric says Pasadena Girl can complement her so far flawless juvenile term with more success next season.
"If she shows natural progression she'll win a good race as a three-year-old as well," he said."
