Description

Colt is very well conformed, muscular and moves well. He is from the family of Fall Aspen.
About his sire:
He is by the first season sire Harbour Watch whose weanlings sold well at Tatterstalls last December (top price £240,000) and average of £34885 from 39 lots sold. Harbour Watch’s career was cut short by injury but not before he had been unbeaten in three runs at 2 with his Richmond Stakes victory (G2) described by Timeform as the best performance by a 2 year old in 2011. He is by the highly successful sire, Acclamation. His dam is Gorband (half to the group 1 winner Europa Point). His second dam is a daughter of Fall Aspen, a family that needs no introduction.
About his dam:
This is her first foal.
Aspen Leaves is an unraced mare out of Laurelling, a daughter of Dances with Leaves, herself a daughter of the great Fall Aspen. Aspen Leaves is Laurelling’s oldest foal. Laurelling is the dam of one winner from three foals to race, to date.

Aspen Leaves has had two siblings to race so far. Her half sister, Chaplet (by Street Cry), is owned by Godolphin and ran a narrow second in a three way finish at her last start at Goulburn on the 1st June. Her half brother Vysotsky (by Teofilo) has won twice to date.

Laurelling's other foals include a filly (2013) Laureole by Exceed and Excel, owned by Darley. Her 5th foal (a 2014 colt by Ad Valorem) sold for $32000 as weanling at the 2015 Broodmare and Weanling Sale.

This is a strong female family that consistently produces horses that can run and excel. Aspen Leaves has produced a strong well conformed and balanced first foal with this colt. He traces back to Fall Aspen on both sides of his pedigree and is by a sire whose pedigree page and racetrack performance (from only three starts before he was claimed by injury) suggests that he has every chance of succeeding at stud. His dam line has a history of producing successful stallions. That view was endorsed by the buying bench at the Tatterstalls December 2014 sales.

He is Lot 213 at the upcoming Great Southern Sale and can be found at Barn C, stables 17-37.
