Williams suspended after Flemington treble

Saturday 27 June 2015, 6:03pm

Craig Williams will miss two metropolitan meetings after being hit with a careless riding suspension at Flemington on Saturday.

Williams received an overall ban of seven meetings for his winning ride on Jessy Belle in a heat of the Leilani Series.

Jessy Belle gave Williams a treble and a one-win lead in the Melbourne jockeys' premiership.

Williams pleaded guilty to the charge with stewards assessing the carelessness at the lower end of the scale.

His suspension ends at midnight on July 4 and he will miss city meetings at Ballarat and Caulfield.

Apprentice Patrick Moloney was suspended for 11 meetings for careless riding after riding Recalculate in the Brian Beattie Handicap.
