By the time the Melbourne Cup comes around it will be almost 72 hours since Darren Weir laid eyes on leading contender Signoff.
After winning his way into the Cup with victory in the Lexus Stakes on Saturday, Signoff was whisked away to Weir's satellite stable at Warrnambool to prepare for Tuesday's race.
With his main stable at Ballarat, Weir has entrusted Warrnambool foreman Daniel Bowman with getting Signoff to Flemington.
Weir said Signoff had come through his Lexus win in great shape and there was no need to head to Warrnambool to check him over.
He said the gelding would make the 3-1/2 hour float trip to Flemington on Tuesday.
"He went straight to Warrnambool after the race," Weir said.
"On Sunday and today he had a trot and canter at the beach and a paddle in the water for half an hour.
"If there's one little downside it's the travel, but he's used to that.
"He stands on the truck for an hour every day going to the beach waiting for other horses to work.
"There's no need to go, if there was a problem I'd go, but Daniel said he pulled up terrific so there's no need to interfere."
Weir said the Lexus was run perfectly for Signoff and the race turned out a little softer than anticipated.
Star international rider Joao Moreira gave him the perfect run and he only needed to quicken over the last 600m.
"Everything went perfectly through the run so it probably wasn't that hard a run," Weir said.
"He galloped very well over the last 600 metres, pulled up great in the wind after the race and recovered really quickly.
"If he was ever going to pull up well out of a race and back up into a race on the Tuesday, that's what he needed on Saturday."
