Flying Riddle sets out on ambitious path

Friday 31 October 2014, 11:48am

Speedy galloper Flying Riddle can add another chapter to his story as a bargain buy when he resumes at Doomben.

Flying Riddle cost a meagre $1500 as a weanling but has already returned his connections $108,000 in prize money.

Cassandra Schmidt will be aboard Flying Riddle when he resumes in the TH Cock Electrical and Communications Handicap on Saturday.

Flying Riddle won a trial by six lengths at Deagon two weeks ago but stable foreman Graeme Green warned the gelding was nowhere near his top.

"Even with Cassie's claim on Saturday he has to carry 58 kilos but he will also be improved by the run as he is the type of horse who gets better with racing."

Green, who is the husband of trainer Julie Green, said Flying Riddle could be set for races such as the Bat Out Of Hell at the Gold Coast in January.

"In the long term we are looking at going to Sydney with him but the autumn is a good way off so we will let him tell us where we should be going with him," Green said.

Flying Riddle won his three starts before a spell and ran times to indicate he is up to top company.
