Blueblood Ike's Legacy continued trainer Toby Edmonds's run of success with Sydney cast-offs when he won at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

There would have been few better bred horses racing in Australia on Wednesday than Ike's Legacy, a son of champion sire Redoute's Choice out of Ike's Dream who was trained by John Hawkes to win the 2005 Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Warwick Farm's David Vandyke originally trained the four-year-old and thought the horse had Group One potential but soft palate problems thwarted his progress and after winning three of his eight starts in NSW, Ike's Legacy was transferred to Edmonds.

Racing in a nasal strip for the first time, Ike's Legacy ($3.60) came from a seemingly impossible position on the home turn to take out the Bartz Fabrication & Marks Maintenance Handicap (900m) at the Gold Coast, impressing jockey Chris Munce with his storming finish.

"They were going very fast up front but he gathered them in very quickly," Munce said.

Edmonds has had great recent success with former Sydney gallopers, notably Our Boy Nicholas who has won four of his five starts in Queensland.

Rock Royalty enhanced his 1200-metre record with victory in Wednesday's Pump-It Plate and has now won four of his nine starts at the distance.

The six-year-old has endured his share of problems which have restricted him to just 11 starts but trainer Liam Birchley believes he is starting to realise his potential.

Meanwhile, stewards have adjourned an inquiry into the acceptance and subsequent scratching of two horses from the Jason Gregory stable, Fine Owner and Magical Print, in the CDS Recycling Plate.

Stablemate Ramblin' Daisy took her place in the race and eventually finished second.

Stewards are keen to make further investigations before the inquiry is resumed.
