I'm All The Talk to walk the walk

Sunday 5 October 2014, 3:22pm

Having bypassed the chance to run I'm All The Talk in a Group Two race, Gary Portelli is looking to the sprinter to deliver in a lower grade at Randwick.

The trainer decided not to accept with I'm All The Talk in Saturday's Premiere Stakes fearing he would get involved in a speed battle with Rain Affair and bring himself undone.

As fate would have it, Rain Affair was a no-show due to injury and the race was won by Famous Seamus who finished third behind Terravista and I'm All The Talk in last month's Group Two Shorts.

I'm All The Talk goes to Randwick's Kensington track on Monday for a 1000m sprint in which he will carry 61kg.

"I was concerned about him and Rain Affair taking each other on up front and then of course Rain Affair came out," Portelli said.

"But I'm comfortable with the 1000 metres. I've set him for the Lightning Stakes in two weeks over 1100 metres so this race suits."

I'm All The Talk will carry his full weight with Brenton Avdulla aboard while apprentice Taylor Marshall will take 3kg off topweight Heart Testa's 61.5kg.

Famous Seamus put himself in the mix for the Manikato Stakes with his Premiere win and will meet the Portelli-trained Rebel Dane in the Moonee Valley sprint.

A stone bruise thwarted Rebel Dane's bid for an early season Group One win in the Memsie Stakes (14000m) and he was switched to the Moir Stakes late last month.

He was pipped for second behind Buffering by Lankan Rupee with those two horses also lining up in the Manikato.

"I think the Moir was one of the best runs of his career and with an ounce of luck the result might have been different," Portelli said.

"He will go to the Manikato and then on to the Darley Sprint."
