Merger plan for three key racing bodies

Three key organisations in the Australian thoroughbred industry are set to merge from next year.

The Australian Racing Board (ARB), Racing Information Services Australia (RISA) and the Australian Stud Book (ASB) will form a new national body to be known as `Racing Australia'.

The ARB believes the consolidation of the ASB and RISA databases will boost the sport's integrity and reduce costs.

The new body is expected to be operational from March 31 next year.
