Kathy O'Hara suspended for Randwick ride

Saturday 6 September 2014, 5:42pm

Any hopes Kathy O'Hara had of riding in the $1 million Golden Rose have been dashed by suspension.

O'Hara was outed for shifting aboard Divertire early in the second race at Randwick on Saturday, causing the eventual winner, World Wide ridden by Winona Costin, to clip heels.

Trainer Paul Messara could have two runners in next week's Group One Golden Rose with Panzer Division qualifying to join Scissor Kick.

Tye Angland has ridden both Messara runners but O'Hara was aboard Panzer Division when he was beaten a nose by his stablemate in the Up And Coming Stakes.

O'Hara pleaded not guilty, saying she was heading into the turn and had not changed her line.

Stewards disgreed and she will miss three meetings starting on Thursday.

Apprentice Costin has been booked to ride Press Report in the Golden Rose as long as the filly passes a veterinary inspection after an injury scare this week.
