Gask mapping plan for Medicean Man

Monday 4 August 2014, 8:50am

Medicean Man is likely to be absent from British racecourses until the northern winter with Jeremy Gask considering several different plans of action.

A tremendous servant of the former Adelaide trainer's Wiltshire operation, the eight-year-old won twice at the Dubai Carnival in March and finished fourth in the Al Quoz Sprint.

He then endured a disappointing trip to Singapore, where he pulled off a shoe before the start of the KrisFlyer and did not participate.

Medicean Man returned to Royal Ascot for an excellent fourth in the King's Stand, but only beat one home when he backed up in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

"He looks terrific. He's had a nice break since Royal Ascot," Gask said.

"It was just the lack of cover in the Diamond Jubilee. He won't be out over here for a while, but we're now thinking about two options.

"There's either going for the All-Weather Championship series, or go back to Dubai.

"I doubt he'd stay in Dubai for as long without the Tapeta (surface), but after that there's the chances of going to Singapore and maybe Hong Kong."

The Tapeta track at Meydan is being replaced by dirt.
